Bill Murray puts on surprise musical performance in Washington Square Park

Bill Murray brought his own cheer to chilly Washington Square Park Wednesday with a surprise recital of songs including “I Feel Pretty.”

The 71-year-old comedian teamed up with his often-accompanists — cellist Jan Vogler, violinist Mira Wang, and pianist Vanessa Perez — for the performance.

After urging passersby to sing along on “It Ain’t Necessarily So,” Murray recited “Dog” by beat poet Lawrence Ferlinghetti, who, he noted, “spent some time in this park,” which features in his poetry.

The “Lost In Translation” star later added some pleasing pirouettes to “I Feel Pretty,” then channeled Rita Moreno on “America” from “West Side Story.”

Among those who caught the “Groundhog Day” star’s performance were former “Real Housewife” Carole Radziwill — sparkling in a sliver ski jacket — and author and former Bronx detective Edward Conlon.

Also there were Elizabeth Callender, Jane McGrath and Karen Duffy, the producer of “New Worlds,” Andrew Muscato’s documentary about Murray’s performance at Athens’ Acropolis.

The quartet departed suddenly after Murray announced,  “The cops say we have to turn off the microphones. Let’s rip this place apart!”

“New Worlds” premieres at the Village East, fittingly, on Feb. 2, which is Groundhog Day.

Murray was most recently seen in Wes Anderson’s latest, “The French Dispatch,” and “Ghostbusters: Afterlife.” And while he’s confirmed for the next installment of Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly’s “Ant-Man and the Wasp” franchise, fans were surprised to learn recently it won’t be his first time in the Marvel universe: He voiced the Fantastic Four’s Human Torch in a short-lived radio program based on the heroes in 1975.
