Bug Bite Thing was founded in 2017 by Kelley Higney and her mother Ellen McAlister, a seasoned entrepreneur. Kelley’s daughters, like her, were both “mosquito magnets.” After many failed attempts to find relief by using creams and trying home remedies, Kelley decided to research how other countries combat insect bites. She discovered an innovative product that used suction to remove the insect saliva/venom and eliminate the itching, stinging, and swelling, instead of masking the symptoms. Amazed by the effectiveness of the product, Kelley knew she had to make it readily available and offer other families relief. In October 2019, Kelley and Ellen appeared on ABC’s hit show, “Shark Tank” and pitched to the Sharks to invest in their business. After receiving offers from all the Sharks, they decided to strike a deal with Lori Greiner. Since appearing on “Shark Tank,” Bug Bite Thing’s business has flourished and the company is on its way to becoming a global household name.
*UPDATE- good customer service* Poor quality- The cap cracked after a few usages
The cap cracked after I used it a few times (see photo) less than two months period. Because of the crack, it doesn’t create a vacuum anymore and therefore is useless! Since it’s past the return window, it cannot be returned. It is either a lemon or the quality is very poor. That’s why I am giving it one star.*UPDATE*The customer service of this company is excellent! They responded to my email and then sent out the replacement cap immediately. Now my tool is working again! That is why I am updating the review from one star to four stars.

This device works pretty well. I used it a number of times. Even when it wasn’t immediately after being bitten, it still helped some to reduce irritation. Unfortunately, when I picked it up to use it for the first time in a couple of months, it didn’t work. Somehow the applicator cap that you use to press against your skin had cracked. It looks like it cracked when the cap was on with the large part on the big piece, and the little hole out, for a small bite. I’d mainly used it with the large part against my skin, with no problem; when I switched it, it worked, but apparently the stress from being a little small (combined with the plastic drying out with age) let to it cracking while it sat on my shelf.
You’re supposed to take it off and clean it after each use, which I did. At least it worked for a while! Just be careful with that piece. Don’t leave it on the big piece with the small hole out.
