Ted Lasso, Hacks, and Succession all returned for major nominations, but there’s plenty of room for newcomers, too.

Will back-to-school season offer a boost to Abbott Elementary? Will the acclaimed final run of episodes for Better Call Saul finally give Bob Odenkirk and Rhea Seehorn their moment in the spotlight? Can Manhattan scammer Anna Delvey, as played by Julia Garner, beat out Silicon Valley scammer Elizabeth Holmes, as played by Amanda Seyfried, in the eternally competitive best actress in a limited series race?

Those are among the many burning questions we’ll be pondering heading into Monday night’s Emmy Awards, hosted by Kenan Thompson and airing on NBC. (Read more on how to stream the 2022 Emmys.) Succession leads with a total of 25 nominations, including a whopping 14 actors, with Ted Lasso and The White Lotus close behind at 20 apiece. They’re all expected to be dominant forces in their respective categories, though they’ve got competition; Netflix’s Squid Game is probably the most watched show in the drama category, while Ted Lasso will face its sunny American cousin Abbott Elementary, and The White Lotus will face the solemn limited series Dopesick.

We've already made our Emmy-winner predictions 2022, so you can see where we land on all these showdowns. And for a reminder of what’s at stake, read below for a full list of this year’s nominees in major categories.
