Why is everyone on Twitter talking about this blue couch?

TikTok creator Yafavv.Mandaa has divided Twitter, like so many before her. Earlier this week, she made a TikTok documenting her rescue of a blue couch she found on a New York City sidewalk.

Free curb finds are one of the many joys of living in the city, but fabric furniture is often left out on purpose due to bed bugs or some other hygienic horror show. Plus, Yafavv says it was left out in the rain. So even though she swears she "cleaned" the couch with a handheld fabric vacuum before putting it in her living room, that thing should have been cleansed with fire.

The post made some New Yorkers queasy while others praised her good luck and opportunism. Which side do you fall on?

It started with a tweet... of a TikTok

Then it was dissected in the court of public opinion

Some suspected the couch might not be worth $8,000

For the record, Yafavv posted a second TikTok of the designer tag to show it was worth thousands.

Then the blue couch became a meme

And now the brands have joined the conversation, so it's officially time to move on
