It's a crushing end of the road for the USWNT at the 2023 World Cup, with a penalty kick shootout that didn't go its way.

And the ultimate game-winner for Sweden that sent the United States team packing went in ... by a few millimeters.

Here's what happened: Alyssa Naeher appeared to make an incredible save that popped the ball up in the air in front of the net. And while on her back with the ball coming down, she batted at it to get it out.

Or so she thought. Because the shot was reviewed with VAR, and thanks to the review from above, you can see the ball went over the line -- BARELY over the line, I should say.

It's so crushing, especially for a team with high expectations after winning the tournament twice.
