The Roseate

For the ultimate relaxing hotel stay, you need a hotel room with a bath tub – and these are some of our favourites.

For many of us, hotel stays are the only occasion when we actually have time to take a bath, which is why it’s often an important feature when choosing where to book.

At Drakes in Brighton, you’ll be able to spot seagulls swooping past as you enjoy some bubbles in a bay window overlooking the seafront – the iconic British boutique hotel was a pioneer of bringing bath tubs out of bathrooms and into the bedroom.

For some bath tub action in a stately stay, book in to the Grade II-listed Mitre opposite Hampton Court Palace, where the rosé flows on a riverside terrace and the copper bath tubs are fit for kings and queens. Or take your rubber duck along to Malmaison Newcastle, which has an open-plan suite with twin bath tubs for soaks side-by-side.

Read on for some of the best UK hotel rooms with bath tubs – your muscles will thank you.

The Mitre, Surrey

The Mitre is on the banks of the Thames opposite Hampton Court Palace, with suites fit for royalty – rooms with bath tubs here include the regal Royal Room and the stately Catherine Parr Suite, which has a particularly good roll-top copper one. The latter also has a four-poster bed and a view of the river through its bay windows.

The Grade II-listed building was commissioned by Charles II in 1665 to house his courtiers. Today, there's a riverside rosé terrace, delicious afternoon teas and indulgent dinners a king would approve of. You’ll also be able to paddle board and kayak on the water.

For a soak with a sea view, book a stay at Drakes in Brighton, one of the UK’s original boutique hotels and still the proud owner of a celebrity following today (among the rumoured guests are Kylie Minogue and Cate Blanchett). The hotel is set across two Georgian townhouses, with wood panelling, cornicing and art deco accents.

If a freestanding bath tub in the bedroom is a dealbreaker, book a King Room with Sea View and watch the swooping seagulls outside as you unwind.

We The Food Snobs
