Lately, a nefarious little trend has been popping up on TikTok: People are putting tiramisu into disgusting vessels for the sake of views. Think of a place where you wouldn’t want tiramisu, and people are putting it there for engagement. A clear purse being sent through the TSA scanner? There’s tiramisu in there. A car’s center console? There’s tiramisu there too. The sink, tub, and toilet of an otherwise normal bathroom? You guessed it, filled to the brim with tiramisu.
These are all nightmarish ways to enjoy tiramisu — an Italian contribution to culture on par with the Mona Lisa and Andrea Bocelli — even if just for an outlandish video. (How do you clean it out of the car console?) I was prepared to say, “Enough! No more novelty tiramisu containers!” That is, until Thursday, when the New York Yankees announced that they would be selling tiramisu in little Yankees caps this upcoming season. Well, that’s just perfect.
For years, the baseball cap bowl has been put to great effect for ice cream, so it stands to reason that it would also be delightful for another soft, dairy-forward dessert. Picture this: You’re at Yankee Stadium on a cool summer evening, the energy is electric, and you and your date decide to split a baseball cap of tiramisu. Is that not the most romantic thing you’ve ever heard? The only thing that would be better is if the Mets figure out how to do crème brûlée in their own little caps.
