We’re back, and as promised, Week 2 is allll about your personal brand: how to build it, how to use it, and how to find companies that align with it. Because your job should fit into who you are. And not just the other way around.
Where to Start
📝 Your Resume
Your combination of experiences is unique, so be sure to highlight what you bring to the table that no one else can. Your resume should speak to your impact (aka accomplishments, not tasks), so future employers understand how you contribute. PS: It’s just as important to know what to leave out as what to include.
💻 A Website
A personal website is a great place to share your latest and greatest work. And show a bit of personality. Choose work that speaks to your full range of expertise, and highlight pieces that align with what you’d love to do more of. Pro tip: Set a reminder to update it once every few months.
📱 Social Media
Your social media — both professional and personal — contribute to the brand potential employers see when they look you up. Make sure that any public profiles are current, and reflect your values. And that anything you’d rather keep private is set to, well…private.
Making Your Match
Once you’ve nailed down your personal brand, it’s time to find companies that align with it.
